Your Two Hours With Us

What actually happens at your first visit

Most first dental visits are 30 minutes of paperwork and a quick look. Here is what those two hours look like instead, moment by moment.

01

A tour of the office, so you know where you are

We start with a brief walk-through. Where things are, who you'll meet, what the equipment is for. The goal is simple: by the time you sit down, you're not in an unfamiliar room. You're in our space, and you know it.

02

Digital photos and X-rays, a complete picture

We capture intraoral photographs and a full set of digital X-rays. Lower radiation than traditional film, far clearer detail, and instantly viewable on the screen so we can show you what we're seeing as we go.

03

Digital impressions and bite record, no goopy trays

An intraoral scanner builds a precise 3D model of your teeth and how they meet. We use this to map the stress on your jaw joints, identify wear patterns, and create a baseline we can compare against for years to come.

04

Under the microscope: the biofilm from your own mouth, in real time

We take a small sample from your mouth and put it under a phase-contrast microscope while you watch. You see your own bacterial ecosystem: moving, alive, on the screen.

Most patients have never seen this. It's the moment the abstract becomes concrete. This is what's living in your mouth right now. What we treat depends on what we see here.

05

Acidity (pH) screening, what your mouth's chemistry is telling us

A persistently acidic mouth dissolves enamel faster than the body can rebuild it. We measure your resting pH and look at what's driving it: diet, hydration, breathing patterns, medications, or the bacterial population itself.

06

Nitric oxide screening, and why this matters far beyond your mouth

The bacteria on your tongue are part of how your body produces nitric oxide, a molecule essential for healthy blood pressure, cardiovascular function, energy, and sleep. Mouthwash and antibiotics can disrupt this pathway without anyone realizing.

We screen your levels. If they're low, we can usually trace it to a cause. This is one of the diagnostics that turns a dental visit into a whole-body conversation.

07

SimplyPerio salivary panel, the bacterial signature of your microbiome

A small saliva sample goes to the lab and comes back with a complete read of which bacterial species are present, in what proportions, and what they're capable of doing. It is the difference between guessing at gum disease risk and knowing it.

The report becomes part of your chart. It tells us not only what is happening today, but what's likely to happen over the next two, five, ten years if nothing changes.

08

Panoramic X-ray, checking the jaw joint and bone health

The panoramic view shows us the full architecture: every tooth, the surrounding bone, the sinuses, and critically, the jaw joints themselves.

Jaw joint breakdown often shows up months or years before teeth start failing. It can also explain ringing in the ears or a sense of fullness that an ENT couldn't account for.

Patients are often surprised to learn the source was here all along.

Sometimes Recommended

Two screenings that may be added based on your history

These are not part of the standard evaluation. They are only suggested if your specific history calls for them, and we always tell you why before recommending either one.

3D Cone Beam CT (CBCT)

When standard X-rays aren't enough to see what's happening

Standard dental X-rays show the teeth. They don't show what's happening in the surrounding bone. A CBCT is a 3D scan that does, and the imaging is read by an oral and maxillofacial radiologist, not by us.

The radiologist's written report has helped many of our patients resolve medical issues that traditional dental imaging never picked up. Chronic sinus problems that turned out to be a tooth. Inflammation markers no functional medicine workup could trace. Unexplained facial pain. The medical system often doesn't think to look here. The imaging makes it possible to.

When this is usually recommended

You have a history of root canals, wisdom tooth extraction, persistent sinus issues, or unexplained facial or jaw symptoms.

At-Home Sleep Study

When the jaw and airway are telling us to look further

A great deal of what shows up in the mouth (worn teeth, jaw tension, clenching, a tongue that doesn't sit where it should) points to a question about breathing during sleep. We can prescribe an at-home sleep study to answer that question without sending you through a hospital.

The report is read by a board-certified sleep medicine physician. We have seen patients get treated for problems that had been bothering them for years (fatigue, headaches, brain fog, blood pressure) once the breathing pattern at night was finally measured.

When this is usually recommended

You snore, wake unrefreshed, grind your teeth, have a tongue-tie, or your partner has mentioned pauses in breathing while you sleep.

Cancellation Policy

Your $306 deposit is applied in full toward your new patient evaluation. It is non-refundable for cancellations within 3 business days or no-shows. Cancellations made more than 3 business days in advance may be applied to a rescheduled appointment.
